DODOTRONIC - HiSound microphone dish - Stereo - XLR, AOM 4x :

This parabolic microphone can pick up sounds with stereo separation, the signal is routed through 2 XLR Phantom power enabled connectors on the recorder.

Stereo parabolic microphone equipped with ultra-low noise and high sensitivity sensors.

Ideal for generic applications in which the stereophonic effect gives the spatial location of each sound.

You need an external audio recorder and headphones. (and optional screen)

This parabolic microphone can capture sounds with stereo separation, the signal is routed into a single stereo XLR connector.

The stereo effect is given by the separation of the channels obtained by placing a separator disc (baffle) between two pairs of microphones, positioned on the left and right channels with two capsules for each channel. The dish is made up of two circuits with upper and lower shielding; the same shield is tightly connected to the ground of all four capsules to minimize immunity to external interference.

A single AOM-5024L offers the same performance as two EM172s. The presence of a single capsule instead of two for each channel allows better focusing in the center of the dish. In addition, the cost of this sensor is lower than that of EM172.

The EM172 saturates at a higher SPL, making it easy to record loud audio with this sensor.

Compared to traditional PZM, the biggest improvement in HiSound stereo is placing the capsule on the same plane as the baffle and not in the opposite direction. This configuration can add an additional +6 dB of signal gain without having any influence on the high frequency response.

Hi-sound includes all components: microphone handle and disc, you only need a compatible recorder (and windshield) in addition;

The 4 x AOM-5024 combination is ideal for very high sensitivity applications such as monitoring nocturnal migratory birds, however loud sound can easily saturate the signal, resulting in distortion.

This is why there are also other options, with different sensors:

     4 x EM172 two for each channel
