Flash Multiplier is also compatible with any other flash whose head is approximately 38mm wide and no more than 78mm long.

In testing, we set the aperture to f/10.0 and find that the photo taken without FX is seriously underexposed, while with FX the exposure is correct, and it's even brighter than the photo taken at f/5.6 without FX. (In this test, the camera settings except for the apertures are the same. And the subject is still 7 meters away.)
