BatSound® 4.7 Software – Single-user License:

Analyzing bat calls may be necessary in certain situations, for example to reliably identify a species.

BatSound is a powerful and efficient tool for different types of sound analysis.

It is suitable for general sound analysis, but also includes several features that are particularly useful for analyzing calls recorded by a bat detector or directly by an ultrasonic detector such as the D500X or D1000X.

General Features:

BatSound uses any Windows-compatible sound card for audio input and output.
BatSound supports audio formats up to 32 bits with one or two channels (mono/stereo) and sampling rates up to 384 kHz (for recording and playback; files of any sampling frequency can be opened and analyzed). The common WAV format is used for file storage. It is also possible to open audio files in other formats, such as MP3 and WMA, if the corresponding codecs are installed on the computer.
Simultaneous opening of several windows containing different audio files makes it easy to compare signals and analysis results.
Printing and image file export via the Windows clipboard (BMP and WMF formats).
Extensive zoom function.
Optional time and frequency compensation of time-expanded signals to display the original time and frequency.
Playback speed function for time-expanded playback of high-speed audio files from D500X/D1000X detectors.
The Next/Previous Open command makes it easy to analyze all files in a folder. This is very useful for browsing files obtained by automatic recording.
Automatic parameter extraction function: calculation of max./min. frequency, pulse duration, etc.
Optional grid in most diagrams.
Export of analysis results to the clipboard.
In Virtual Bat Detector mode, audio files recorded in time expansion or high-speed mode are replayed at their original speed, imitating a heterodyne bat detector. Ideal for learning to identify bats using a heterodyne detector, for classroom demonstrations, etc.
The Automatic Recording mode allows the computer to record sounds automatically. The desired threshold is selected, and the computer starts recording into an audio file as soon as the signal exceeds this level. Numerous parameters can be adjusted in this mode, for example by defining limits for minimum pulse duration, total recording time, maximum number of pulses to record, etc. Selective frequency triggering is also available to avoid recording unwanted signals.
